Edward G. Johns, Jr., 78 years old, of Andover, Ohio, died on Tuesday, January 11, 2005, at home. Mr. Johns was born on October 1, 1926, in Rayne Township, PA, to the late Edward G. Johns, Sr. and the late Esther A. (Williams) Johns. Formerly of Cleveland, Mr. Johns has been a long time Andover resident. He was employed as a millwright for Caterpillar in Mentor, Ohio, for 29 years, retiring in 1988. He served in the United States Navy during World War II in the South Pacific. Mr. Johns worked in the mines in Indiana County, Pennsyvlania, for 8 years following his service in the Navy. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church in Indiana, PA; the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Cleveland; and he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Mr. Johns married D. Eloise (Kiser) on July 16, 1964. Preceding him in death are his parents and two sisters, Esther A. Naglich and Betty J. Jones. He is survived by his wife, D. Eloise Johns of Andover, OH; his two daughters, Eva Childress of Charleston, WV; and Rebecca Ferris of St. Paul, MN; his sister, Peggy (Dale) Fisher of New Brighton, PA; his brother, Harry Johns of Indiana, PA; three grandchildren and three great grandchildren and two nieces. A private funeral service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place in West Andover Cemetery.
