Edward George McCloskey

Williamsfield, Ohio - Edward George "Butch" McCloskey, age 78, died at his home, surrounded by his family on Friday, June 7, 2024. He was born on September 19, 1945,  in West Homestead, Pennsylvania, the son of Irene (Yuhasz) and Edward LeRoy McCloskey. Ed was a 1963 McKeesport High School graduate. He proudly served in the United States Navy on the USS Iwo Jima, as a Radar Man, writing code, during the Vietnam Conflict serving three years in Vietnam and over four years before going to the reserves.
Ed became a Williamsfield resident in 1999, after spending years coming for weekends, and family vacations. He was formerly of Pittsburgh and Cleveland. He was a Lead Space Director and CM Analyst at KBR, working for NASA in Cleveland, Ohio. He helped design the International Space Station & Research Center. 
On November 16, 2013, he married Betty Loraine (Moersch). Ed was an avid Pittsburgh Penguins fan, attending and watching their games. He loved auctions, watching reenactments, and studying history at Colonial Williamsburg and Yorktown. Ed collected Tootsie Toys and antique cars, was a HAM operator, and enjoyed camping and fishing.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife of forty-three years Anna Marie (Calvin); and a brother, Bruce A. McCloskey. Survivors include his wife of ten years, Betty McCloskey of Williamsfield, Ohio; a daughter, Elizabeth D. "Betty" (Ralph) Justice of Glenshaw, Pennsylvania; a son, Steven R. (Georgeanna) McCloskey of Irwin, Pennsylvania; two step-daughters, Crystal G. Stofferahn of Espyville, Pennsylvania, and Rachel (Albert) Offredi of New Kensington, Pennsylvania; two step-sons, Curtis (Emily Vercant) Stofferahn of Linesville, Pennsylvania, and Charles (Abby) Stofferahn of Richmond, Indiana; twenty grandchildren; a sister, Carol C. Miller of Goose Creek, South Carolina; and a niece, Kelly McCloskey of Cranberry, Pennsylvania.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 10, 2024, from 2:00 PM until 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 134 Prospect Street, Andover, Ohio. Military Honors will be at 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
