Edward J. Pollander, Sr., age 82, of Vernon Township,OH, died Wednesday, March 2, 2011, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Boardman,OH He was born February 3, 1929, in Niles, OH, a son of Paul and Anna (Orivitz) Pollander, Sr. A long time area resident, Mr. Pollander was a Vernon High School graduate. He was employed by Copperweld Steel, retiring in 1997. He also was an avid dairy and beef farmer. In his retirement years he enjoyed cruising abroad and taking trips to Las Vegas. He also enjoyed watching the Cleveland Indians and Cavaliers and never gave up on them. He loved listening to polka music; but most of all loved his family and grandchildren. Mr. Pollander was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Kinsman,OH. Mr. Pollander is survived by his wife of 53 years, Maryann R. (Layshock) Pollander, whom he married May 11, 1957; his four sons, Dr. Edward (Pam) Pollander, Jr. of Andover, OH, John (Debbie) Pollander of Canfield,OH, Dr. Gregg Pollander of Fort Wayne, IN, and Michael Pollander of Xenia, OH; his nine grandchildren, Abby, Laura, Rachel, Celine, Logan, Emma, Parker, Andrew, and Max. He is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter-in-law, Emily Pollander; a granddaughter, Julia Noelle Pollander; two brothers, Paul Pollander, Jr. and Stephen Pollander; and five sisters, Ann Pollander, Mary Nabholtz, Theresa Smith, Catherine O'Hara, and Tillie Pollander. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, March 7, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 6397 St. Rt. 87, Kinsman,OH, with Rev. Kevin McCaffrey officiating. Burial will follow in Kinsman Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday, March 6th from 2 P.M. to 5 P.M. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 8569 Main St., Kinsman,OH.
