E. Esther Samuels

Gainesville, Florida - E. Esther Samuels, age 86, died on Friday, June 14, 2013. She was born on October 10, 1926, in Hallton, Pennsylvania, a daughter of Margaret (Thacher) and Oscar Benton Eisenman. Having spent the last twenty years in Gainesville, Mrs. Samuels was formerly of Brookfield and Vernon, Ohio. On June 6, 1953 she married Raymond Samuels. In 1987 Mrs. Samuels retired from the executive staff of Lake to River Girl Scouts Council and trainer for the American Camping Association. In retirement she continued her interest in traveling, the arts, painting and gardening. Mrs. Samuels is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of thirty-five years, Ray who died in 1988; two sisters, Bessie Eisenman and Grace Eisenman. Survivors include her daughter, Carol R. (Don) Scoates of Gainesville, Florida; a grandson, Michael Paul Cochran, Jr.; three step grandchildren, Jessica, Lindsey and Tyler Scoates and a brother, C. Michael Eisenman. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at 11:00am at Baumgardner Funeral Service, 8569 Main Street, Kinsman, Ohio, with Rev. Susan Frances officiating. Burial will follow in West View Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on June 19th from 10:00am until the time of services.
