Elizabeth Mary McLaughlin, age 83, a former long time Kinsman resident, passed away at her daughter's home in Charleston, SC, on March 31, 2009. She was born May 5, 1925 in County Limerick, Ireland, the daughter of John and Catherine (Hunt) Conway. She came to the United States in 1962 as a governess; and received her U.S. citizenship in 1963, which was an event she was very proud of. Mrs. McLaughlin married Daniel R. McLaughlin on November 30, 1963, and he preceded her in death on August 22, 2004. Mrs. McLaughlin was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Kinsman, where she belonged to the Altar and Rosary Society. She also was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Harry Lees Post 506. She considered herself to be a world traveler, as she visited many places in her lifetime. Her hobbies included sewing, knitting, spending time with her grandchildren and great granddaughter, and going on Father Hogan's trips with all of her friends. She is survived by her daughter, Helen Walker and very special son-in-law, James "Doak" Walker of Charleston, SC; her son, William Stigers of Murfreesboro, TN; her granddaughter, Catlin, grandson, Daniel, great granddaughter, Addison; nephew, Michael O'Shea; niece, Joan Riordan; and two great nieces, Melissa Turner and Jennifer Dearth. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, April 6, 2009, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 6397 St. Rt. 87, Kinsman,OH, with Rev. Kevin McCaffrey officiating. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Greenville, PA. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, April 5th from 2:00 to 5:00 P.M. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 8569 Main St., Kinsman, OH.
