Williamsfield, Ohio - Elmer George Fick, Jr., age 91, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 13, 2017 in UPMC Horizon Hospital in Greenville, Pennsylvania, surrounded by his family. He was born on January 23, 1926 in Collins, New York, a son of Hazel Marie (Moore) and Elmer George Fick, Sr. Mr.Fick was a 1944 graduate of Brocton Central High School. The day after graduating, Mr. Fick joined the United States Army Air Corps working as Airways Communications Systems Specialist during World War II in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. On September 7, 1951 he married Edna Pearl Harnett. Mr. Fick worked as a signal maintainer for the former New York Central Railroad, Penn Central and retiring from Conrail in 1986 with forty years of service. While working full time, Mr. Fink built his first home in Sandy Lake, Pennsylvania and then his second home in Williamsfield, Ohio, where he has lived since 1968. After his retirement he was the regional manager for A. L. Williams Insurance of Youngstown, Ohio. He was a member of the Williamsfield United Methodist Church and enjoyed camping, doing woodwork, building his model railroad and traveling to Florida in his RV. Mr. Fick is preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Keith Brannon; two great grandchildren, Bella Dickey and Keith Sippola; his sister, Jean D. Martin and his brother, Richard A. Fick. Survivors include his wife of sixty-five years, Edna P. Fick of Williamsfield, Ohio; two daughters, Kathy L. (Kenneth) Sippola-Brannon of Sharon, Pennsylvania and Paula J. Carey of Hermitage, Pennsylvania; two grandchildren, Jason (Susan) Sippola of Sharpsville, Pennsylvania and Rachel (Jason) Dickey of Hermitage, Pennsylvania and four great grandchildren, Hannah and Zachary Sippola and Willa and Calla Dickey. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at 1:00pm at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 8569 Main Street, Kinsman, Ohio, with Pastor Pat Seger officiating. Burial will follow in Williamsfield Center Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 16th from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at the funeral home and from noon until the time of services on Thursday.
