Kinsman, Ohio – Elwood V. “Woody” McCracken, age 69, died on Thursday, January 9, 2014, in a motor vehicle accident. He was born on January 18, 1944, in Cameron, West Virginia, a son of Edna Mary Margaret (Church) and Verl Howard McCracken. Woody was a 1961 graduate of Cameron High School. He worked at Packard Electric, Plant 10, and when he retired he moved to Townsend, Montana, returning to the area last year. On February 19, 1977 he married Lillian Ruth Ware. Woody was a member of the Corner Stone Baptist Church of Cortland, Ohio and a member of the Mecca Moose Lodge. He loved to fish and hunt and was an animal lover. Woody is preceded in death by his parents; a sister and two brothers. Survivors include his wife of thirty-six years, Lillian R. McCracken of Gustavus, Ohio; two step sons, James (Erica) Howard of Champion, Ohio and Anthony Gorrell of Columbus, Ohio; three granddaughters, Isabella, Laurana and Brianna Howard; two nieces, Sherry (Don) Abel of Moundsville, West Virginia and Terrie (Mike) Miske of Winfield, West Virginia; his sister in law, Shirley (Ken) McCracken of Moundsville, West Virginia and a great niece, Jessica (Jesse) Porter of Moundsville, West Virginia . A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 11:00am at the Gustavus Federated Church with Rev. Gary Crawford officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to your local Humane Society in Woody's name.
