EMOGENE L. PIPER SMITH, age 84, of Austinburg, OH, died Friday, December 15, 2006, at Austinburg Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Austinburg, Ohio. She was born November 2, 1922, in New Lyme Township, OH, to Roy A. and Wilma M. (BeBout) Fetters. A lifetime area resident, Mrs. Smith was a graduate of New Lyme Schools in 1940. She was employed as a cook and supervisor with the Pymatuning Valley School system for over 25 years, retiring in 1985. She also had worked for five years for Foster's Meat Packing House in Cherry Valley. She was a member of the Cherry Valley United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School, held all offices in the Women's Society, and was a member of the Board and held various offices. She also was a member of the Council of Dynamic Rural Ministry. Mrs. Smith was a member and past officer of the Richmond Grange, the Rebekah Lodge in Dorset, the Cherry Valley Mother's Club, and the Mardi Club of Andover. Mrs. Smith married C. Alfred Piper on Nov. 6, 1942. He died Nov. 23, 1977. She married Earl D. Smith on April 25, 1985, and he died Dec. 15, 2005. Also preceding her in death are a step daughter, Joanne E. Smith; two sisters, Glenna D. Lipps and Rosalyn A. Beckwith; and four brothers, Victor E. Fetters, Roger D. Fetters, Vernon A. Fetters, and Roy A. Fetters, Jr. Mrs. Smith is survived by a son, Walter E. Piper of Tylersburg, PA; two daughers, Arlene J. Kohta of Sheffield Township, OH, and Ellen L. Nystrom of Zephyrhills, FL; one brother, Lee E. Fetters of New Lyme Township, OH; 6 grandchildren, Sandy Nypaver of Holidaysburg, PA, Brenda Kohta of Cincinnati, OH, Alan Kohta of Sheffield Township, OH, Brian Campbell of Indiana, Tod Piper of Brookfield, OH,and Brandy Piper of Brookfield,OH; and 2 Great Grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2006, at 11:00 A.M. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 134 Prospect St., Andover,OH, with Rev. Peter Elencovf officiating. Burial will follow in Cherry Valley Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday, December 18, 2006 from 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home.
