Kinsman, Ohio - Ethel M. Rohrbach, age 96, died on Tuesday, March 23, 2010. She was born on December 26, 1913, in Jelloway, Ohio, the daughter of Blanche (Sheperd) and Rev. John Bernard McGee. Formerly of Elyria, Ohio, Mrs. Rohrbach has lived in Kinsman, Ohio for many years. Mrs. Rohrbach received her B.A. Degree in Latin-English and her Master's Degree in Guidance Counseling from Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, Ohio. She was employed for twenty-seven years in the Champion and Mesopotamia School systems, teaching Latin and English and at Elyria High School, as Senior Girl's Counselor for eleven years. Mrs. Rohrbach spent four years helping students with tutoring. She was a former member of the Champion Presbyterian Church and was a friend of the Kinsman United Methodist Church, a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma, Lorain County Beta Chapter; the Leadership of Lorain, where she won the Distinguished Leadership Award for developing the "Lifelong Learning Directory"; she served as past president for the Elyria Y.W.C.A. and secretary and lifetime trustee for the Lorain County Neighborhood Housing Association. She also served on the career education committee for the Lorain County J.V.S. Mrs. Rohrbach was an avid reader and was a member of two book clubs, The Culture Club and The Book Club, both of Elyria, Ohio. Mrs. Rohrbach is preceded in death by her first husband, James C. Matson and her second husband, George S. Rohrbach; two daughters, Judith Mather and Georgianne Stein; a granddaughter, Linda Pospisil; a sister, Bertha A. Wack and a brother, Earl A. McGee. Survivors include two daughters, Penelope (Richard) Rohrbach Stratton of Swampscott, Massachusetts and Sandra Rohrbach of Kent, Ohio; a son John (Henrietta) Matson of Kinsman, Ohio; a son-in-law, Malcom Mather; two sister-in-laws, Eleanor Passig McGee and Lois Rohrbach Mines; three cousins, Olen and Elizabeth Sheperd, Albert and Eunice Sheperd, Joan and Dwayne Ross; her caregiver, Yvonne Stevens; eleven grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and loving friends. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 1:00pm at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 8569 Main Street, Kinsman, Ohio with Rev. David McKinnon officiating. Please join the family for food and fellowship at Kinsman United Methodist Church, 8362 Main Street, Kinsman. Private burial will follow in Kinsman Cemetery.
