Evelyn S. Barto, 94 years old, of Fowler, Ohio, died on Saturday, November 13, 2004, in St. Joseph Health Center in Cortland, Ohio. Evelyn was born on April 21, 1910, in Vernon, OH, to the late Frank Draa and the late Nellie (Lane) Draa. A longtime Gustavus and Kinsman resident, Mrs. Barto was a Fowler resident for the past 4 years. She was a 1927 graduate of Vernon High School. She was a member of the Gustavus Federated Church, where she was the church secretary for 25 years, taught Sunday School for over 30 years and was a member of the church's Ladies Aide Club. She was also a member of the Blue Star Mothers Club of Gustavus and the Trumbull Co. Home Extension. She enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, playing solitaire, and was an avid reader. She married Samuel H. Barto on October 10, 1928. He passed away on August 23, 1996. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her grandson, Ronald Dilley; a great grandson, Benjamin Cico; three brothers, Nathan, Gordon, and Hallie Draa; and a sister Hasel Amato. She is survived by her four daughters, June Banning of Gustavus, OH; Helen (Garth) Bonar of Vernon, OH; Marilyn (Ronald) Dilley of Kent, OH; and Mrs. Carol Arnio of Fowler, OH; her two sons, Raymond (Belva) Barto of Vernon, OH; and Samuel "Butch" (Sharon) Barto, Jr. of Kinsman, OH; her sister, Irene Detwilder of Saxton, PA; her brother Roy Draa of Burghill, OH; 16 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; and 11 great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 16, 2004, at 2:00p.m. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 8569 Main Street, Kinsman, Ohio, with Reverend Steven W. Trimble and Pastor Karen R. Cico officiating. Burial will follow in Gustavus Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Tuesday, November 16, 2004, from Noon (12p.m.) until the time of services.
