Florence B. Newcomb

Florence B. Newcomb, age 88, of Jefferson, Ohio, joined her husband on Tuesday, November 23, 2010. She was born November 3, 1922, in Wayne Township, Ohio, a daughter of Charles L. and Lucy H. (Hayslett) Lipps. A lifetime area resident, Mrs. Newcomb worked on their family owned dairy farm with her husband, Roland. She was a member of the Leon United Methodist Church; and she enjoyed quilting, gardening, and canning veggies. She was known as â�œAunt Tootsâ₝ to all her nieces and nephews. Mrs. Newcomb is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Jane Boomhower of Jefferson; twelve grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. She married Roland Newcomb on May 16, 1942, and he preceded her in death in 1998. She is also preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Patricia Ann Lockwood; her five brothers, Andy, Henry, Joseph, Clifton, and Calvin Lipps; and six sisters, Mabel Camp, Myrtle McConnell, Mary Zaebst, Grace Rice, Sally Hedrick, and Cora Fetters. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at 2 P.M. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 134 Prospect St., Andover,Ohio. Burial will follow in Hayes Cemetery, Wayne Township, OH.
