Andover, Ohio - Francis R. Piper, age 80, died on Wednesday, November 28, 2007. He was born on July 21, 1927, in Cherry Valley, Ohio to Lyle R. and Irene L. (Crawford) Piper. A lifelong area resident, Mr. Piper was a long time dairy and livestock farmer. In 1973 he opened Piper Meat Processing. He was active in both farming and the meat processing business for many years. He retired from the meat processing business in 1982. Mr. Piper was a member of the Andover First United Methodist Church and Ashtabula County Farm Bureau. He was a master woodworker and also enjoyed, hunting, fishing, traveling, spending time with his grandchildren and farming. Mr. Piper is preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Marshall Piper. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Norma J. Eldred, whom he married on June 22, 1951. Other survivors include his three daughters, Pamela R. (Ron) Romine of Austinburg, Ohio, Elaine F. (Terry) Orahood of Andover, Ohio, and Irene J. (John) Skleres of Andover, Ohio; two sisters, Lila Jean (Ray) Sulzer of Peoria, Arizona, and Beth (Guy) Utterback of Jefferson, Ohio, his step mother, Ethel Piper of Cherry Valley, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Shannon Johnson, Neal Taylor, Lee and Troy Orahood, Drew, Michealia and Mitchell Skleres; and great grandson Trevor Johnson. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 3, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 134 Prospect Street, Andover, Ohio, with Rev. Peter Elencovf officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2007, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
