Franklin L. Fry

Franklin L. Fry, age 59, of Andover, Ohio, died Friday, April 12, 2013, at the St. Joseph Medical Center in Andover. He was born February 15, 1954, in Quakertown, PA, a son of Melvin Free and Betty (Fry) Free. A resident of Andover for the past 8 years, Frank was formerly of Genesee, PA. He was a 1971 graduate of Quakertown High School; and was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the U.S. Marines. Frank was employed as an over the road truck driver and worked in construction for many years. He also owned and operated with his wife a restaurant, "Annie's Place." He was a member of the Andover Christian Church, where he served as a youth group leader and was active in their annual wild game dinner. Frank was a member of Field-n-Stream; and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking. He loved to build things. Frank was a person with a generous heart and was always happy to lend a helping hand to anyone in need of it. He is survived by his wife, Frances Anne (Colton) Fry, whom he married August 19, 1989, of Andover; son, Christopher F. Fry of Tahoe, CA, daughter, Alexis L. (Fry) Grey of Madison, WI, son, Philip M. Colton of Andover, OH, son, Michael L. Jean of Fort Drum, NY, son, Robb L. Jean of Pottsville, PA, son, Nathan D.J. Fry of Andover, OH, special son, David A. Link of Andover, OH; 13 Grandchildren; four step brothers, Rusty Free of Cowdersport, PA, Donald Lathrop of Austin, PA, Barry Lathrop of Stuart, FL, and Brian Piaquadio of LaPlata, MD, one step sister, Holly Stoll of Alma, NY; and his step mother, Lillian Free of Genesee, PA. He is preceded in death by his parents; and a grandson, David Cole. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 19, 2013, at 1:00 PM at the Andover Christian Church, Stillman Ave., Andover, OH, with Pastor Robert Gears officiating. Calling hours will be on Friday from 12:00 Noon until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations are to be made to the family.
