Frederick G. Smith

Frederick G. Smith, age 91, of Gustavus township, OH, died Thursday, September 5, 2013, at Autumn Hills Care Center in Niles,OH. He was born August 21, 1922, in Greene township,OH, a son of Charles A. and Catherine (Crouch) Smith. A lifelong area resident, Mr. Smith was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in France and Germany during World War II. He was employed by ABF Freight Line in Little Rock, Arkansas, and also Daniels Motor Freight in Warren ,OH. Mr. Smith was a member of Teamsters #377 in Youngstown,OH, and Harry Lees American Legion Post #506, Kinsman. He was an avid fisherman and loved old Western movies. He is survived by two daughters, Sandra S. (Roland) Wildman of Gustavus township, OH, and Cindy (Kirk) Hutchens of Conneaut,OH; one daughter in law, Sammy Smith of Currituck, NC; ten grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; nine great great grandchildren; one sister, Phyllis Smith of Vienna,OH; and two brothers, Gene A. Smith of Kinsman,OH and Earl E. Smith of Gustavus township,OH. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife Marjorie (Postlethwait) Smith; his son, Frederick James Smith; five sisters, Evelyn Meister, Mary Tretera, Arlene Brownlee, Helen Herbert, and Dorothy Stevens; and three brothers, Robert L. Smith, Emerson L. Smith, and Charles Smith, Sr. A funeral service will be held on Monday, Sepember 9, 2013, at 11:00 AM with Pastor Jim Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Gustavus Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Sunday, September 8th from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Legion Post #506, PO Box 288, Kinsman,OH 44428.
