Johnston, Ohio - Gary Lee Tarr, Sr. age 59, died on Saturday, July 22, 2006 at UPMC Horizon Hospital, Greenville, Pennsylvania. He was born on November 18, 1946 in Warren, Ohio to Junior W. and Flossie B. (Kirby) Tarr. A lifelong Johnston resident, Mr. Tarr was a 1964 graduate of Maplewood High School and served in the United States Army. Mr. Tarr was employed by WCI Steel of Warren, Ohio for twenty-five years, retiring in 1996. He was a member the local Steel Workers Union and of the Johnston Federated Methodist Church. Mr. Tarr camped at Wildwood Campgrounds in Williamsfield for twenty-four years and enjoyed stock car racing as a driver for Sharon Speedway and Speedway 7. He is preceded in death by his father and his son Gary L. Tarr Jr. Survivors include his wife of forty years Terry L. Morrison, whom he married on April 6, 1966. He is also survived by a daughter Sheila Rae (Jim) Griffeth of Johnston; a grandson Cory Tarr; a step grandson Jimmy Griffeth; a sister Joyce (Bill) Kellar of Gainesville, Florida; three brothers, Jim (Wilma) Tarr of Cortland, Dennis (Kathy) Tarr and Tim (Teri) Tarr both of Vienna, Ohio. Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, July 26, 2006 at 5:00 P.M. at Baumgardner Funeral Home 8569 Main Street, Kinsman, Ohio with Pastor Jeff W. Coggins officiating. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 3:00 P.M. until the time of services.
