Gene A Smith

Farmdale, Ohio – Gene A Smith, age 86, died on Thursday, August 14, 2014 at his home with his family by his side. He was born on September 22, 1927 in Greene, Ohio, a son of Catherine (Crouch) and Charles A. Smith. Mr. Smith served in the United States Army, having served in the Korean War. He was a train engineer for the former Copperweld Steel of Warren, Ohio for over forty years. On November 4, 1951 he married Ada M. Hines. Mr. Smith was a member of the Harry Lees American Legion Post and enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife of fifty-eight years, Ada M. Smith; a great granddaughter, Kayla Osborne; five sisters, Evelyn Meister, Mary Tretera, Arlene Brownlee, Helen Herbert, and Dorothy Stevens and three brothers, Robert L. Smith, Emerson L. Smith and Charles Smith, Sr. Survivors include his daughter, Dolly M. Davis of Farmdale, Ohio; his son, David G. Smith of Warren, Ohio; four granddaughters, Sandra, Janet, Jennifer and Sarah; a sister, Phyllis Smith of Vienna, Ohio; a brother, Earl E. Smith, Sr. of Gustavus, Ohio and ten great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 18, 2014 at 10:00am at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 8569 Main Street, Kinsman, Ohio with Pastor Jim Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Kinsman Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Sunday, August 17, 2014 from 2:00pm until 4:00pm at the funeral home.
