George A. Bolen

Cherry Valley, Ohio - George A. Bolen, Jr., age 82, died on Friday, April 20, 2012, in Warren, Ohio. He was born on June 16, 1929, in Odd, West Virginia, son of Lilly (Thompson) and George A. Bolen, Sr. Mr. Bolen served in the United States Army from 1952 until 1954. He was a machinist at the Champion Steel Company of Orwell for thirty eight years and retired in 2002. On August 17, 1963 he married Mabel L. Farmer. He was a member of the Kelloggsville Church of the Nazarene. Mr. Bolen enjoyed hunting, gardening, and tinkering with mowers. He is preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Carrie Ritter; and two brothers, Frank and Charles Bolen. Survivors include his wife of forty-eight years, Mable L. Bolen of Cherry Valley, Ohio; four sons, Dolphus J. (June) Maynard, Roger D. (Elnora) Maynard and Thomas R. (Gayle) Maynard all of Cherry Valley, Ohio, and Lester A. (Annette) Bolen of Pierpont, Ohio; eight grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; four sisters, Myrtle Dangerfield of Coal City, WV, Shirley McLaughlin of Geneva, OH, Corrie Bays of Cleveland,OH, and Versie Crouse of Princewick, WV; and two brothers, Eddie Bolen of NC, and Delbert Bolen of WV. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at 11:00am at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 134 Prospect Street, Andover, Ohio, with Pastors' Lester Bolen and Richard Meyer officiating. Burial will follow in Cherry Valley Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Tuesday, April 24th from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at the funeral home.
