Mecca, Ohio - George Nelson Krom, age 77, died on Tuesday, January 5, 2010. He was born on July 11, 1932, in Kingston, New York, a son of the late Mary E. (Styles) and George N. Krom Sr. Formerly of Florida, Arizona, Colorado and New York, Mr. Krom was a 1950 graduate of Kingston High School. He was employed for IBM for over thirty-two years retiring in 1988. In his spare time Mr. Krom was a reserve Police officer while in Colorado and volunteered as a fireman in Tulsa New York where he became fire chief. Mr. Krom served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed fishing, tinkering on his computer and eating peanut M&M's. Mr. Krom is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Deborah Renee Krom and a sister Shirley Morris. Survivors include a daughter, Vicki L. (Timothy) McPheron of Mecca, Ohio; a son, Richard N. Krom of Tucson, Arizona; a stepdaughter, Kimberly (Pat) Hancox of Gobles, Michigan; a sister, Evelyn L. (Jack) Kee of Fredrick, Maryland and two grandsons, Michael (Kayla) McCoy and Christopher McCoy. No services will be held.
