GEORGE A. NICHOLAS, age 92, of Kinsman, Ohio, died Tuesday, October 23, 2007, at his daughter and son-in-law's residence, Joseph and Marvel Peel, in Wayne township,OH. He was born August 4, 1915, in North Jackson, Ohio, the son of John and Florence (Culp) Nicholas. A lifetime area resident, Mr. Nicholas was a jack of all trades. He owned and operated a machine and weld shop for over sixty years. He also was employed by Bolinger's Tool and Die in Kinsman for twenty years. Mr. Nicholas served in the Civilian Conservation Corps in the early 1930's, helping to clear land for the Hoover Dam. He was one of the founding members of the Ashtabula County Antique Engine Club; and enjoyed steam engines, antique tractors and equipment. Mr. Nicholas married Fannie M. (Wheeler) Nicholas on May 1, 1943. She died June 12, 1970. He is also preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Fielden, Randall, and Charles Nicholas; a sister, Ethel Kenyon and three infant sisters. He is survived by his daughter, Winnie Nicholas of Cortland, OH, daughter, Thelma (Elmer) Hamilton of North Bloomfield,OH, daughter, Sylvia (Gene) Kolley of Wayne township, OH, son, Charles Nicholas of Wayne township, OH, and daughter, Marvel (Joseph) Peel of Wayne township, OH; one brother, Lake (Eva) Nicholas of Arcadia, FL; grandchildren, Dixie Young, Robert and Jarod Nevison, Ron and Crystal Westfall, Wade, Bruce, and Elizabeth Hamilton, Tracey Spitler, Amanda and Joshua Kolley, and Keith and Katie Nicholas; and 17 Great Grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 8569 Main St., Kinsman,OH. A private burial of cremated remains will take place in Kinsman Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Friday, October 26th from 4 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ashtabula County Antique Engine Club, P.O. Box 168, Williamsfield, OH 44093.
