George W. Short, Sr.,age 81, of Williamsfield,OH, died Sunday, October 9, 2005 at UPMC Horizon Hospital in Greenville, PA. He was born November 12, 1923 in Fayette County, West Virginia, to Aaron W. and Elizabeth C. (King) Short. A longtime area resident, Mr. Short was employed as a diesel mechanic for the Commercial Lovelace Trucking Co. of Youngstown, Ohio for over 23 years. Mr. Short was a veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict having served in the United States Navy, Army, and Air Force for over 14 years. He served in both Europe and Korea. Mr. Short was a member of the International Association of Machinists. He enjoyed fishing and was an avid baseball and football fan. He also enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr. Short was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters; and a brother. He is survived by two sons, George W. (Karen) Short, Jr. of Pierpont, OH, and Rick (Betty) Short of Kinsman,OH; one daughter, Susanna R. (Roland) Braden of Williamsfield,OH; two grandsons, Ryan (Valerie) Short of Newton Falls,OH, and Craig (Jamie) Braden of Williamsfield,OH, one granddaughter, Michelle Short of Pierpont, OH; and three great grandchildren, Victoria and Chase Braden of Williamsfield, OH, and Delaney Short of Newton Falls,OH. No calling hours or services will be observed. The family suggests memorial contributions to Family Hospice & Palliative Care, 1965 Shenango Valley Freeway, Suite #2, Hermitage, PA 16148. Baumgardner Funeral Home, 8569 Main St., Kinsman,OH, handled the arrangements.
