Gerald "Jerry" A. Mortensen

Linesville, Pennsylvania - Gerald "Jerry" A. Mortensen, Sr, age 75, died on Monday, December 16, 2013, after an extended illness. He was born on November 22, 1938 in Parma, Ohio, a son of Frances (Knapp) and Leo Mortensen. Jerry served in the United States Army, having served in Korea. He was a truck driver for the Teamsters out of Cleveland. On January 8, 1959 he married Janet Kapis. Jerry enjoyed reading and loved to tinker with anything mechanical. He was a member of the Linesville V.F.W. Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; a son, James Leo Mortensen and a sister, Marge Buyas. Survivors include his wife of fifty-four years, Janet Mortensen of Linesville, Pennsylvania; two daughters, Kathy A. (Ted) Litwiler of Andover, Ohio, and Teri A. (Denny) Kovanitz of Parma, Ohio; three sons, Gerald A. "Skip" Mortensen, Jr. of Wooster, Ohio, Richard A. Mortensen of Andover, Ohio, and Jeffrey S. (Deanna) Mortensen of Enterprise, Alabama; a sister, Virginia Pleveich of Cleveland, Ohio; two brothers, William (Rita) Mortensen of Brook Park, Ohio and Robert Mortensen of Oregon; fourteen grandchildren and six great grandchildren. No public services will be held. Burial of cremated remains will be in St. Philip Cemetery in Linesville, Pennsylvania.
