Gladys I. Bradford, age 94, died Wed., June 29, 2011, at Meadowbrook Manor Nursing Home in Hartford,OH. She was born August 4, 1916, in Gustavus ,OH, a daughter of Leo D. and Maggie Olive (Jameson) Brainard. A lifetime resident of Gustavus, Mrs. Bradford was a 1934 graduate of Gustavus Consolidated School. She was employed as a cook for Turkey Heaven Restaurant in Kinsman, where she became known for her pies she baked. She also was employed by Garden Brook in Cortland. Mrs. Bradford and her husband owned and operated "Bradford's Sportsman Paradise" in Canada for several years. She was a member of the Kinsman Christian & Missionary Alliance Church; the Gustavus Mother's Club; and the Wealthy Rebekah Lodge in Mecca. She was a charter member of the Burdette Edgar Totten VFW Post 6263 Auxiliary. Mrs. Bradford enjoyed going to garage sales, doing needle work, and playing Pinochle. She enjoyed music and loved flowers; and was on a bowling league in Kinsman and Cortland. Mrs. Bradford married Charles J. Bradford on August 26, 1935, and he died Jan. 2, 2005. Also preceding her in death are two infants, a son-in-law, Keith Dailey,a granddaughter, Denise Bradford, six brothers, Floyd, Loren, Earl, Arden, Paul, and William Brainard, and two sisters, Belva McAllister and Audrey Cico. She is survived by a daughter, Nancy L. Dailey of Joplin, MO, a son, Alan D. (Dianne) Bradford of Gustavus, OH, a daughter, Janice E. Bradford of Gustavus, OH, a son, LeRoy G. (Jackie) Bradford of Vernon, OH, a brother, Wade L. (Helen) Brainard of Cortland, OH, a sister in law, Helen Gallant of Linesville, PA, 5 Grandchildren, 13 Great grandchildren, and 1 Great great grandchild. The family would like to extend their appreciation and gratitude to Meadowbrook Manor for all the love and support given to their mother and family. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at 1:30 PM at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 8569 Main St., Kinsman, OH, with Pastor Howard Darr officiating. Burial will follow un Gustavus Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Monday, July 4th from 6 PM to 8 PM at the funeral home.
