Glenn L. Haines, age 81, of Richmond Township, OH, died Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at his home. He was born September 19, 1933, in Andover, Ohio, the son of Merald L. and Louise B. (Burgett) Haines. A lifelong area resident, Mr. Haines was a graduate of Dorset High School. He married Barbara “Diane” (Hart) on Feb. 19, 1956, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Jefferson, OH. Mr. Haines was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church since 1956, where he organized the Men's group and served on church council. He was a member of Lutheran Brotherhood and Thrivent; the former Denmark Grange as a young man; and was a former member of the Industrial Management Club and the Ashtabula High School Band Boosters. While Mr. Haines and his wife were raising their sons he was a member of the Indian Guides and helped start Y Adventures. He had a beautiful tenor voice and was a member of the Town Choir. He enjoyed singing at weddings and singing solos at church. Mr. Haines earned his welding certification from Lincoln Electric. He was employed by Dominion East Ohio Gas Co. for many years, retiring in 1991, as a Construction and Maintenance Supervisor. He enjoyed dancing, music, playing his guitar, farming, and many church activities. He traveled with his wife to Alaska, Hawaii, Germany, Switzerland, Canada, and half of the United States. He enjoyed the family cruise to the Southern Caribbean and the family vacations to the Outer Banks, North Carolina. Mr. Haines is survived by his wife, Diane Haines of Richmond Township, OH; his daughter, Rozanne (Michael) Laslow of Ashtabula; his two sons, Douglas Haines, and Laurence (Laura) Haines, both of Ashtabula; and his five grandchildren, Carla (Jared) Sziber, Lauren Haines, Glenn (Kaitlin) Haines, James Haines, and Calvin Haines. The family would like to extend their gratitude to Vince Barchanowicz for taking Glenn on weekly excursions. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Robert, Harold, and Paul Haines; and sister, Marjorie Haines. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. No calling hours will be observed.
