Gordon L. Carkhuff, age 80, of Kinsman,Ohio, died Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at Meadowbrook Manor Nursing Home, Hartford,OH. He was born June 1, 1930, in Kinsman,Ohio, a son of John A. and Irene E. (Scott) Carkhuff. A lifetime Kinsman resident, Mr. Carkhuff was employed as an aircraft mechanic for Youngstown Airways for eleven years and for Midtown Aviation for over twenty years. He was a member of the Kinsman Presbyterian Church; the Loyal Order of Moose, Greenville, PA; the Kinsman Masonic Lodge #442, and Eastern Star #518, Hartford,OH. His hobby was gardening. Mr. Carkhuff is survived by his wife, Elizabeth A. (Fletcher) Carkhuff, whom he married May 21, 1948, of Kinsman,OH; his son, Gerald L. (Diane) Carkhuff of Midwest City, OK, his daughter, Thelma W. (Bill) Pilger of Miramar, FL, his son, Paul W. Carkhuff of Champion, OH, his son, Jeffrey H. (Terri) Carkhuff of Kinsman, OH; his brother, Eldon S. Carkhuff of Warren,OH; nine grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Rae Louise Warner; and his brother, Robert J. Carkhuff. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2011, at 11:00 A.M. at the Kinsman Presbyterian Church, 6383 Church St., Kinsman,OH. A luncheon will be held immediately following the service. Graveside committal service will then follow in Windsor Cemetery.
