Harlan Davis Free, age 76, of Mecca Township, OH, died Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at Shepherd of the Valley in Howland. He was born March 21, 1936, in Bloomfield, OH, a son of Davis H. and Marian (Armstrong) Free. A long time resident of Mecca, Mr. Free was formerly of Kinsman. He was a 1954 graduate of Kinsman High School and served in the U.S. Army. He owned and operated dairy farms in Kinsman for many years. He retired from Bristol Schools as a custodian. Mr. Free enjoyed farming, gardening, hunting, fishing; and he loved his dogs. He is survived by his wife, Mavis L. (Phillips), whom he married Nov. 23, 1954, of Mecca; his three daughters, Loraine M. (Richard) Watt of Andover, OH, Julie A. Unangst of Orangeville, OH, and Beverly A. (Bill) Hunkus of Orangeville, OH; one sister, Leta Krieg of Colebrook, OH; six grandchildren, Harley McElrath, Michael (Kasey) Dales, Stephen Unangst, Jacob Unangst, Davis Hunkus, and Dillon Hunkus; and four great grandchildren, December McElrath, Blake Dales, Natalie, and Landon. He is preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Dorothy Krafcic and Arlene Hall. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, December 2, 2012, at 1:00 PM at the Kinsman Fire Hall.
