Harold D. Jewell, age 90, of Warren, Ohio, died Sunday, October 31, 2010, at his home with his daughter at his side after battling kidney failure. He was born April 9, 1920, at the Jewell homestead in Vernon, Ohio, the son of Lloyd and Edna (Dingman) Jewell. He graduated from Vernon High School where he was a member of ROTC, the basketball team, and played the coronet in the band. He attended Ohio State University and later Youngstown State University. He was an excellent sharpshooter and was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II. Harold married his wife of 52 years, Donna Marie (Warner), on November 17, 1943. They resided in Warren their entire married life. He was employed as an auditor for the Cafaro Co., retiring in 1991. He attended the Tod Ave. United Methodist Church. He enjoyed playing basketball, tennis, and ballroom dancing, both in Ohio and South Carolina. Harold is survived by his daughter, Joanne Jewell of Warren, Ohio, his son, Bruce Jewell of Bowling Green,OH; and two grandsons. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and his two brothers, Howard and Gordon Jewell. A private graveside service will be held at Kinsman Cemetery.
