Harold M. Amy, age 79, of Cherry Valley township, Ohio, died Monday, September 12, 2005, at his home. He was born February 11, 1926, in Brockton, New York, to Albert and Mable (Howard) Amy. Formerly of Dunkirk, New York, Mr. Amy has been a long time Andover area resident. He was employed as a railroad signalman for New York Central Railroad for 26 years. Mr. Amy was a World War II veteran having served in the United States Navy. He attended the Cherry Valley United Methodist Church; and he enjoyed gardening, traveling, and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy M. (Harnett), whom he married December 16, 1949; two sons, Randy (Pamela) Amy, of Richmond township, OH; and Allan (Cathleen) Amy, of Lagrange, OH; two brothers, Raymond Amy of Melbourne Beach, FL; and Walter Amy of Fredonia, NY; one sister, Doris Amy of Berry, New York; and five grandchildren, Shannon Gamble, Justin Amy, Erin Amy, Zach Amy, and Ericka Amy. Preceding Mr. Amy in death are his parents; three sisters, Gwen Rowland, Betty Saunders, and Shirley Foster; and two brothers, Robert Amy and William Baily. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 16, 2005, at 11:00a.m. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 134 Prospect St., Andover, OH. Burial will follow in Williamsfield Center Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Thursday, September 15th from 7p.m. to 9p.m. and also on Friday from 10a.m. until the time of service.
