Wellington, Nevada - Harriet (Leffingwell) Keffer, 83, died on June 13, 2011 at her home in Wellington, Nevada, following a lengthy illness. She was born Oct. 31, 1927 in Kinsman, Ohio, the daughter of Esther and Benjamin Leffingwell. She grew up on the family's farm in Kinsman and then attended Allegheny College in Pennsylvania, where she graduated with a bachelor's degree in mathematics. She taught math at Andover Schools for a short period of time after graduation, then went to work at Bailey Meter Company in Wickliffe where she worked in accounting until retiring in 1979. After retirement, she worked at Kennametal in Orwell, Ohio, and then at Andover Industries until 1988. She married her husband, Raymond Keffer, on June 13, 1989 in Nevada, where they have lived ever since. Harriet was an avid reader of mystery and crime novels, and was a great enthusiast of crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed baking and cooking. Harriet is preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, Raymond Keffer, and through marriage has four children; Raymond (Sue) Keffer Jr., of Twinsburg, Ohio, Cheri Schauer, of Willoughby, Ohio, Robert (Debbi) Keffer, of Wellington, Nevada and Shirley Foucher, of Perry, Ohio; as well as twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her cousins, Dolores Ritz, Philip Stanhope, Marie Morris, William Stanhope and Marsha Stanhope. She is also survived by her beloved German shepherd, Gunny. A graveside service will be held on Friday, July 22, 2011 at 1:00pm at Kinsman Cemetery, Kinsman, Ohio.
