Helen M. Gorney

HELEN M. GORNEY, age 93, of Andover, OH, died Thursday, April 10, 2008, at St. Paul Homes Health Center in Greenville, PA. She was born August 13, 1914, in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Joseph A. Kovacs and Elizabeth (Rapach) Kovacs. A resident of Andover since 1995, Mrs. Gorney was formerly of Munhall, Pennsylvania. She was employed by Atco Trouser Co. in Pittsburgh, PA from 1931 to 1941; and by Westinghouse, Inc. in Turtle Creek, Pennsylvania from 1941 to 1951. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Andover; and she enjoyed crocheting and spending time with people. Mrs. Gorney married Edward L. Gorney on August 13, 1951, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 30, 1983. She is also preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Stropko; and two nieces, Dorothy Olsavick and Ruth Schorr. She is survived by a sister, Margaret Nagy of Greenville, PA; one nephew, Edwin Stropko of Alexandria, VA; three great nieces; and two great nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 481 S. Main St., Andover, OH, with Rev. Kevin McAffrey officiating. Burial will take place in Jefferson Memorial Park, Pleasant Hills, PA. Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
