HERBERT T. SCHROEDER, age 84, of Williamsfield, Ohio, died Tuesday, June 20, 2006, at Hillside Hospital in Howland, Ohio. He was born May 27, 1922, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Henry and Louise (Yehle) Schroeder. A long time area resident, Mr. Schroeder was employed by Kennametal Corporation in Orwell,OH, retiring in 1985. He formerly was employed by Bow Sockett in Ashtabula, OH, and did construction work in Phoenix, AZ. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, having fought in the Battle of the Bulge and served at the Remegen Bridge. He was a member of the Andover Christian Church;the VFW Post #9519 in Andover; and was an active member of the P.V. Fitness Center. His hobbies included woodworking. Mr. Schroeder married his first wife, Betty Jean (Henderson), in 1947. She died in 1980. Also preceding him in death are his parents; his great grandson, Nicholas Tennyson; and his sister, Yolanda Bequeath. He is survived by his wife, Jean Schroeder, whom he married Nov. 22, 1980, of Williamsfield, OH; son, Thomas (Hong) Schroeder of Kent, OH; son, Charles (Nancy) Schroeder of Kent,OH; daughter, Yvetta (Ray) Flack of Andover, OH; son, David Schroeder of West Hollywood, CA; 3 Step children, Wayne Brookover of Jessup,MD, Mike Brookover and Karen Brookover, both of Marietta, OH; 9 Grandchildren; and 9 Great Grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. at the Andover Christian Church, Stillman Ave., Andover, with Gene Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Cherry Valley Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Friday, June 23rd from 4 P.M. to 7 P.M. at the church and also on Saturday from 12:00 Noon until the time of services.
