Hilda S. Kohta

Williamsfield, Ohio - Hilda S. Kohta, age 101, went to be with the Lord on October 14, 2008. She was born on August 16, 1907, the daughter of the late Jacob and Hulda (Ranta) Jouppila. She was a 1926 graduate of Chardon High School and attended the Spencerian Business School in Cleveland, Ohio. A resident of Williamsfield since 1933, Mrs. Kohta attended the Williamsfield United Methodist Church. Mrs. Kohta was a poll attendant for Williamsfield for many years. She enjoyed gardening, and crocheting. She married Toivo J. Kohta on August 2, 1930, and he preceded her in death on August 6, 1979, after 49 years of marriage. Mrs. Kohta is also preceded in death by four grandchildren. Survivors include four daughters, Ellen M. Burns of Jefferson, Ohio, Betty J. (Ralph) Worley of Greensboro, North Carolina, Ruth J. (Willard) Jones of Sunnyvale, California and Ida M. (David) Sprague of Wayne, Ohio; two sons, Charles E. (Carmella) Kohta of Williamsfield, Ohio and Paul A. (Sharon) Kohta of Plymouth, Ohio; seventeen grandchildren; seventeen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 134 Prospect Street, Andover, Ohio with Rev. Pat Seger officiating. Burial will follow in Williamsfield Center Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 17, 2008 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. and on Saturday from 10 A.M. until the time of service.
