Howard H. Faler,

Howard H. Faler, Sr., age 80, of Vernon Township, OH, died Monday, April 12, 2010 at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. He was born April 29, 1929, in Vernon Township, a son of Buford "Bob" Faler and Hazel M. (Draa) Amato. A lifetime Vernon resident, Mr. Faler retired from Fiest Hardwoods in Newton Falls as a truck driver. He also drove for Harnett, Farm Bureau, and the former Busy Beaver companies. Mr. Faler served in the Quartermaster Corps. in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict stationed in Germany. He was a member of the Vernon United Methodist Church; and he enjoyed his grandchildren, the outdoors, woodworking, and was a jack of all trades. Mr. Faler is survived by his wife, Irma L. (Gress) Faler, whom he married November 14, 1953, of Vernon; his daughter, Kathleen (Fred) Manheimer of Pittsburgh, PA, daughter, Gale (Bob) Tidd of Bridgman, MI, son, Howard (Holly) Faler, Jr. of Grove City, PA, and daughter, Elizabeth (Robert) Hartman of Hartford, OH; one sister, Donna (Jake) Miller of Johnston Township, OH; 12 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Roberta Rae Faler on May 17, 1998, and Sara J. Faler on July 20, 1998; and his grandparents, Frank and Nellie Draa. A funeral service will be held on Friday, April 16, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. at the Vernon United Methodist Church, 6123 St. Rt. 7, Vernon Township,OH, with Pastor John Benigas officiating. Burial will follow in West View Cemetery, Vernon. Calling hours will be on Thursday, April 15th from 2 to 4 P.M. and 6 to 8 P.M. at the church.
