Kinsman, Ohio – Howard Ray Jackson, age 87, died at his home, with his family by his side on Saturday, May 16, 2015. He was born on September 13, 1927, in Marlinton, West Virginia, a son of Lula (Smith) and Walter Jackson. Mr. Jackson served in the United States Army Airborne Infantry, having served in Japan for a year. On March 4, 1950, he married Anna Dreer. He worked for Packard Electric for thirty-five years, retiring in 1982. Mr. Jackson was a founding member of The Church of Jesus Christ in Kinsman, where he was ordained as a minister, on April 28, 1974. Foremost he was dedicated to his service to the church and devote to his family. He was known for keeping both his property as well as the church’s property neat and beautiful, with the help of his John Deere tractor. He enjoyed hunting, fishing with his family, building puzzles with his wife and will be forever remembered for his infectious smile. He is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers; Oris Jackson, Alfred Jackson and Guy Jackson. Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Anna Jackson of Kinsman; two daughters, Rosalie E. (Frederick) Mott of Kinsman, Ohio and Mary E. (James) Else of Palmer, Alaska; a son, Philip R. (Francine) Jackson of Kinsman, Ohio; six grandchildren, Rachel, Megan, Timothy, Zachary, Andrew and Tyler; three sisters, Evelyn (David) Sparks of Marlinton, West Virginia, Eleanor (Clifford) Hamrick of Mill Creek , West Virginia and Betty (Chuck) Krumpe of Kinsman, Ohio ; two brothers, Elmer (Helen) Jackson of Elkins, West Virginia and Ward (Wilda) Jackson of Warren, Ohio and nine great grandchildren, with one on the way. Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 22, 2015 at 11:00am at The Church of Jesus Christ, 6000 Webber Cole Road, Kinsman, Ohio, with pastor, Philip R. Jackson officiating, and viewing one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Kinsman Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2015 from 4:00pm until 7:00pm at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 8569 Main Street, Kinsman, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church or to Hospice of the Valley, 5000 East Market Street, # 19, Warren, Ohio, 44484, to whom the family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks for all of their loving care.
