Iva Greta West, age 89, died peacefully early Wednesday morning, Dec. 29, 2010 at the Hospice House, Poland, Ohio. Iva was born March 30, 1921 in Eddystone, Pa., a daughter of Zora and Leila Kerr Cannon and resided most of her life in Andover, Ohio. She was a 1939 graduate of Eddystone High School, Pa., and was an accomplished pianist and organist, having studied music in Philadelphia, Pa. She was a long-time organist for Andover United Methodist Church and later at the First Congregational Church of West Williamsfield. She played for many weddings and was organist for Baumgardner Funeral Home in Andover and Kinsman. She passed on her love of music to the many piano students she taught over the years. She entertained residents with her piano music at nursing homes both in Andover and in Florida, where she had resided in the winter months. She still played the piano occasionally while currently residing at Liberty Health Care Center in Liberty Twp., Ohio. Iva also worked with her family in the Dairy Bar on South Main Street, Andover, during the 1960s and later worked part-time at Andover Public Library. She was a member of Schubert Club, a local musical group. Her husband, Joseph A. West, died Oct. 25, 2004. She leaves her daughters, Robin (Frank) Zambrini of Hubbard, Ohio; and Betty (Don) Rumble of Bloomington, Ind.; a sister, Florence Wentworth of Downers Grove, Ill.; a brother, Ralph Cannon of Eddystone, Pa.; a sister-in-law, Ellen Cannon of Rehoboth Beach, Del.; a grandson, Frank Zambrini III of Hubbard, Ohio; two step-grandsons, Kelly and J.R. Rumble of Bloomington, Ind; and six nieces and nephews and their families. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, William â�œBillâ₝ and John â�œJackâ₝ Cannon, brother-in-law Karl Wentworth; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Alfred and Bea West; sister-in-law Dorothy Cannon and a niece, Louise Wentworth. A memorial service will be held at a later date at which time burial of cremated remains will take place in Maple Grove Cemetery, Andover, Ohio.
