James E. Rogers, age 93, of Vernon township, Ohio, died Thursday, January 5, 2012, at his home. He was born February 27, 1918, in Akron, Ohio, a son of William L. and Golda M. (Heltsley) Rogers. A resident of Vernon since 1943, Mr. Rogers was employed at Shenango, Inc. in Sharpsville, PA, for 37 years, retiring in 1980. He also owned and operated a farm raising cows and chickens. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. His hobbies included traveling, camping, and he enjoyed the outdoors. Mr. Rogers is survived by his wife, M. Louise (Hipkins) Rogers, whom he married August 22, 1942, of Vernon township; two sons, Ronald L. (Diane) Rogers of Vernon township,OH, and Thomas J. (Lois) Rogers of Cortland,OH; four grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents;and one sister, Mildred Mott. A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 9, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 8569 Main St., Kinsman,OH, with Rev. John Benigas officiating. Burial will follow in West View Cemetery in Vernon. Calling hours will be on Sunday, January 8th from 2 to 5 PM at the funeral home.
