James E. Malz, age 77, died on Monday, July 21, 2007, at his residence with his family by his side. He was born on September 4, 1930, in Cleveland, Ohio the son of Erhardt F. Malz and Bessie W. (Miller) Malz. Growing up in Aurora, Ohio, Mr. Malz was a 1948 graduate of Aurora High School. In 1954 Mr. Malz moved to Richmond township where he owned and operated the Jaleen Dairy Farm. Mr. Malz drove school bus for Pymatuning Valley and Jefferson Schools. He was a member of the Dorset Methodist Church, the Ashtabula County Antique Engine Club, the North West Pennsylvania Steam and Gas Engine Society, and the Ashtabula County Farm Bureau. As a young man he was an Eagle Scout, and it was during his boy hood that he discovered his love of farming and assisted his neighbors with farming chores. His hobbies included making maple syrup and working with steam engines. He bought, rebuilt and sold antique steam engines, demonstrating to many the threshing from years gone bye. On May 14, 1966, he married Marilyn J. Sundberg. He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Eileen (Popelka) Malz; an infant son, David L. Malz; and a brother, Robert M. Malz. Survivors include his wife of forty-two years, Marilyn J. Malz of Richmond Township, Ohio; a son, James M. (Sonia) Malz of Brecksville, Ohio; seven daughters, Debra L. (Robert) Lehman of Mineral Ridge, Ohio, Darlene K. Cipra of Andover, Ohio, Laurie A. (David) Millard of Pierpont, Ohio, Lois Elaine Spencer of Andover, Ohio, Arletta M. (Pete) Lower of Pierpont, Ohio, Deanna J. Brant of Cherry Valley, Ohio, Nancy M. Malz of Richmond township, Ohio; thirteen grandchildren, Cindi, Pam, J.R., Wayne, Craig, Lisa, Chad, Jenna, Morgan, Gabriella, Jimmy, Heather, and Tara; and five great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2008 at 11:00 A.M. at Baumgardner Funeral Home, 134 Prospect Street, Andover, Ohio. Burial will follow in Richmond Center Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, July 23rd from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home, and on Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services.
