Greene, Ohio - James R. Rogers, age 59, died on Saturday, July 19, 2014, from injuries suffered from a horse fall. He was born on June 29, 1955, in Junction City, Kansas, a son of Linda Lee (Welton) and Merl Alton Rogers. Jim was a 1972 graduate from Ashtabula Harbor High School. He worked as a master mechanic for Waste Management of Youngstown, Ohio for over thirty-five years. Jim was a member of the North East Ohio Mini Trial Association. He enjoyed riding horses, driving his Late Model race car, playing guitar and telling stories. Jim was a NASCAR fan and loved being with his family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brother. Survivors include his longtime companion, Debra L. Melvin of Greene; two step-daughters, Jennifer L. Melvin of Greene, Ohio and Kelly M. (Terry) Campbell of Liberty, Ohio; a son, Roger Gappa of Chardon, Ohio; a brother, Tom and two sisters, Mary and Norma and two granddaughters, Taylor an Tanna. Calling hours will be held on Friday, July 25, 2014 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 8569 Main Street, Kinsman, Ohio.
