Williamsfield, Ohio - Jay Robert Ray, age 80, died on Thursday, July 11, 2013, in Ashtabula, Ohio. He was born on December 2, 1932, in Cleveland, Ohio, a son of Ruth (Witte) and John Ray. He was a 1951 graduate of Lincoln High School of Cleveland. Mr. Ray served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. On August 23, 1958 he married Carol Ann Offutt. He was a crane operator for LTV Steel in Cleveland for over thirty-two years. Mr. Ray enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He is preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his beloved wife of fifty-five years, Carol A. Ray; two daughters, Patricia A. Hines of Eastlake, Ohio and Teresa L. Weber of Williamsfield, Ohio; two sons, Robert S. (Debra) Ray of Tampa, Florida and Carl A. (Lynn) Ray of Richmond, Ohio; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Monday, July 15, 2013 at 11:00am at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 134 Prospect Street, Andover, Ohio, with Rev. Robert Gears officiating. Burial will follow in Williamsfield Center Cemetery with Military Honors. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, July 14, from 2:00pm until 4:00pm at the funeral home.
