Jeanne A. Schertzer

Jeanne A. Schertzer, of Andover, OH, age 87, died Thursday, September 26, 2013, at Andover Village Retirement Community. She was born December 15, 1925, in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, a daughter of Paul R. and Ruth I. (Blaser) Castanien. Formerly of Upper Sandusky, Mrs. Schertzer was a long time Andover resident. She was employed as a secretary for Pymatuning Valley Schools for many years; and she also was employed by the GE Plant in Andover and Pymatuning State Park. She was a long time member of the Andover First United Methodist Church, where she served on many committees over the years. Mrs. Schertzer is survived by her husband, Richard J. Schertzer, whom she married October 1, 1945, of Andover; three sons, Dr. Clinton B. (Dr. Susan) Schertzer of Cincinnati, OH, David A. (Doris) Schertzer of Youngstown, OH, and Rodney A. (Elizabeth Lewis) Schertzer of Cincinnati,OH; her daughter, Sheila A. (Mel) Michael of Andover, OH; her nine grandchildren; her eight great grandchildren; her four sisters, Virginia Retterer of Bowling Green,OH, Janet (Robert) Swisher of Mansfield,OH, Eleanor (William) Seidell of Roanoke, VA, and Judy (Bill) Thatcher of Marion, OH; and her two brothers, William Castanien of Columbus, OH, and Franklin (Denise) Castanien of Englewood, FL. She is preceded in death by her parents; her son, John Richard Schertzer in 1987; her sister, Marjorie Castanien; and her brother, Richard "Bud" Castanien. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2013, at 3:00 PM at the First United Methodist Church, 181 S. Main St., Andover,OH, with Rev. Vernon Palo officiating. Calling hours will be Saturday from 1:00 PM until the time of service at 3:00.
