Jamestown, Pennsylvania - Jerry A. Groover, age 86, died on Thursday, May 12, 2011 at UPMC Farrell Hospital. He was born on April 22, 1925 in Greenville, Pennsylvania the son of Stella Mae (Billig) and Lamont Jerry Groover. Mr. Groover was a 1943 graduate of Jamestown High School. In September of 1943 Mr. Groover joined the United States Army. He was an airplane mechanic with the 1521st Air Transport Command. Mr. Groover served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater for sixteen months until his discharge in March of 1946. On April 5, 1945 he married Marian Louise Hall. She died on August 31, 2001. Mr. Groover was the Vice President of Engineering at the former Target Stamped Products of Kinsman for over thirty years and retired in 1978. He was a member of the Stateline Methodist Church and the V.F.W. both in Jamestown, Penn. He enjoyed farming, raising cattle and ponies and loved cooking with his wife and going fishing. Along with his wife he is preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Aloha Reigleman and Ione Stone and two brothers, Edward and Leroy Groover. Survivors include his daughter, Carolyn M. McBroom of Greenville, Pennsylvania and a son Jerry Lee Groover of Jamestown, Pennsylvania; his sister, Juanita Osborne of Hadley, Pennsylvania; two grandsons, Keith and Scott Owen and two great granddaughters, McKenzie and Olivia. A funeral service will be held on Monday, May 16, 2011 at 11:00am at Baumgardner Funeral and Cremation Service, 8569 Main Street, Kinsman, Ohio. Burial will follow in Parklawn Cemetery in Jamestown, Pennsylvania. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, May 15th from 2:00pm until 4:00pm.
