Joan M. Brown

Joan M. Brown, age 79, of Jefferson, Ohio, went to be with our Lord on Friday, June 14, 2013, at the Jefferson Health Care Center. She was born June 6, 1934, in Omaha, Nebraska, a daughter of William H. and Gladys (Lewis) Tinneman. Mrs. Brown enjoyed caring for elderly by owning and operating an assisted living home in Jefferson for nineteen years. She and her husband also served as foster parents for numerous children throughout their lives. She had a generous and freely giving heart. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Jefferson; and the Community Care Committee in Andover. She enjoyed gardening, reading, cooking, and spending time with her family. Mrs. Brown is survived by her husband, John R. Brown, Sr., whom she married August 17, 1951, of Jefferson; a daughter, Christine M. Cook of Kinsman, OH, son, John R. (Peggy) Brown, Jr. of Kingsville, OH, son, Calvin L. (Mary)Brown of Dorset, OH, daughter, Kathleen A. (Nick) Glaviaino of Ashtabula,OH, two sons, Bruce Lott of Jefferson, OH, and Paul (Charlene) Lott of Dorset, OH; three sisters, Dolores Perrigo of Carter Lake, Iowa, Beverly Kirschner of Omaha, Nebraska, and Dorothy Bectold of Newman Grove, Nebraska; 15 Grandchildren; 22 Great Grandchildren; and 1 Great-Great Grandchild. She is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Robert Mickelson; and three sisters, Virginia Teadtke, Doris Smeltzer, and Edna Brown. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2013, at 11:00 AM at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 134 Prospect St., Andover, OH. Burial will follow in Cherry Valley Cemetery.
