John E. Atwood

John E. Atwood, 87 years old, of Vernon Twp, OH, died on Friday, August 13, 2004, at Briarfield of Cortland in Fowler Twp., OH. Mr. Atwood was born on January 23, 1917, in Mt. Pleasant, Ohio, to the late Clarence C. Atwood and the late Margaret (Bone) Atwood. Formerly of Girard, Ohio, Mr. Atwood has lived in Vernon for the past 8 years. He was employed by the former Republic Steel in Youngstown, Ohio, for over 30 years, retiring in 1979. He served during World War II in the United States Army. Mr. Atwood was a former member of the VFW in Martins Ferry and Girard, Ohio, and the American Legion in Girard. He enjoyed shopping. Preceding Mr. Atwood in death are his three brothers, Frank, Lemoyne, and Howard Atwood; and two sisters, Hazel Tribiano and Isabelle Schrader. He is survived by his son, Jerry L. Atwood of Lake Milton, OH; his sister, Irene Strates of Oxnard, CA; and two grandchildren. Mr. Atwood will be cremated and there will be no services.
