John R. Ballentine, 86 years old, of Andover, Ohio, died on Saturday, January 8, 2005, at home. John was born on December 9, 1918, in Leon, OH, to the late William D. Ballentine and the late Floy D. (Norman) Ballentine. A lifetime area resident, Mr. Ballentine worked as a salesman for the Central Petroleum Co. for over 54 years. He was a World War II veteran having served in the United States Navy Seabees. Mr. Ballentine was a member of the Leon United Methodist Church; a lifetime member of Masonic Lodge #506 F and AM in Andover; and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #4035, Andover. Mr. Ballentine was preceded in death by his wife Bertha Ann (Ceapa) Ballentine on December 7, 1994. They were married on December 25, 1942. He was also preceded in death by a son, Richard J. Ballentine; sisters, Mary Ellen Ballentine, Kate Mossberger, and Julia Russell; and brothers, William, Norman, Timothy, Fred and Edward Ballentine. Mr. Ballentine enjoyed golfing and his family. He is survived by his son, David J. Ballentine of Andover, OH; his sister, Virginia Dustman of Willoughby, OH; granddaughter, Melissa Ballentine; grandson, Timothy Ballentin; grandson, John Ballentine; granddaughter, Kimberly Ballentine; grandson, Joe Ballentine; granddaughter, Beth Tomlinson; and granddaughter, Tonya Becker. A memorial service will be on Saturday, January 29, 2005, at 3:00p.m. at the Leon United Methodist Church, Stanhope-Kelloggsville Rd., Richmond, OH.
