Kinsman, Ohio - John Lee Matson, Sr., age 75, died on Sunday, July 12, 2015 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. He was born on May 1, 1940, in Warren, Ohio, a son of Ethel (Rohrbach) and James Cooley Matson. Formerly of Champion Ohio, Mr. Matson was a Kinsman, Ohio resident since 1985. He was a 1958 graduate of Middlefield Cardinal High School and attended Kent State University. On December 9, 1967, he married Henrietta L. Marquette. Mr. Matson was an electrician for Van Huffel Tube and WCI Steel, both of Warren, Ohio. He attended the Kinsman United Methodist Church. Mr. Matson was a member of the Blacksmith Association; Solon Gun Club, the Cortland Masonic Lodge F & AM No. 529 as well as the 15th Ohio Infantry. He enjoyed reading, taking part in Civil War reenactments and spending time at the Family camp in Canada. Mr. Matson is preceded in death by his parents and a daughter, Linda Pospisil. Survivors include his wife of forty-seven years, Henrietta L. Matson of Kinsman, Ohio; three daughters, Julie (Lloyd) Ware of Warren, Ohio, Beth (Todd) Gordon of Homesville, Ohio and Heather (Ken) Letcher of Johnston, Ohio; a son, John (Nickie) Matson, Jr., of Kinsman, Ohio; twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 17, 2015 at 1:00pm at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 8569 Main Street, Kinsman, Ohio, with Pastor Patricia Christ officiating.
