John P. Melton, age 65, of Northfield,Ohio, died Friday, April 24, 2015, at the Cleveland Clinic. He was born January 6, 1950, in Ashland,Ohio, a son of Edward G. and Helen L. (Bellard) Melton. A 1968 graduate of Pymatuning Valley High School, John went on to serve in the United States Navy in the Pacific on the Blackfin and a nuclear submarine. He also was a graduate of Kent State University. John was a long time Cleveland area resident, and was employed by the Xerox Company working at the Cleveland Clinic. He was earlier employed by Larelle in Akron. He was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ of Andover. John was an avid cat lover and he enjoyed traveling. He spent his life helping other people doing whatever he could. John is survived by his Fiance, Wendy Vild of Northfield, OH; a sister, MaryAnn Weber of Amherst, OH; a brother, James R. (Viena) Melton of Largo, FL; a sister, Sue (William) Beck of Andover, OH; 7 Nieces and Nephews; 19 Great Nieces and Nephews; and 2 Great-Great Nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2015, at 11:00 AM at the First Conregational United Church of Christ, 170 E. Main St., Andover, Ohio, with Rev. Dr. Jerry R. Fritz officiating. A private interment will take place in Maple Grove Cemetery, Andover. Memorial contributions can be made to the Animal Protective League, 5970 Green Rd., Kingsville, OH 44048.
