Vernon, Ohio - John Suhar, age 83, died suddenly on Sunday, January 25, 2015, in Elkin, North Carolina, while traveling home from Florida, where he and his son Michael were visiting relatives and friends. He was born on February 26, 1931 in Campbell, Ohio, a son of Eva (Car) and John Suhar. He served in the United States Army. John worked as a heavy equipment operator for the former Sawhill Tubular Products of Sharon, Pennsylvania for over thirty years, retiring in 1979. He was a lifetime farmer, having owned and operated his own dairy farm. On March 13, 1954 he married Opal M. Rice. John enjoyed welding, repairing most anything and building a variety of things. He is preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, Paul Lucik; three brothers, Major, Walter Suhar who was killed in Vietnam, Michael Suhar and Andrew Suhar; two half-brothers, Steve and James Lucik and his wife of 47 years, Opal M. Suhar. Survivors include three daughters, Jeanne L. and husband Mark Posey of Kinsman, Ohio, Karen A. Shardy of Vienna, Ohio and Mary S. and husband Patrick McMenamin of Vernon, Ohio; a son Michael W. Suhar of Vernon, Ohio, ten grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2015 at 1:00 pm at Baumgardner Funeral & Cremation Service, 8569 Main Street, Kinsman, Ohio, with Pastor Mary Ann Rufener officiating. Burial will follow in Rock Ridge Cemetery, West Salem Township, Pennsylvania. Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 30th from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm.
