John M. White

John M. "Whitey" White, age 56, of Johnstown Township, Ohio, died Thursday, March 15, 2012, at his home. He was born May 24, 1955 in Cleveland, Ohio, a son of John M. and Shirley (Keleshian) White. Formerly of Willoughby, Ohio, John had lived in Johnston since 1990. He was a 1974 graduate of South High School in Willoughby. He was employed by General Motors for over 35 years. The last 22 years he worked in the GM Fab plant in Lordstown. John was a member of the Rock of Grace Family Ministries Church in Kinsman; and a lifetime member of the N.R.A. He was an avid hunter and fisherman; and loved animals. John loved his family; and was especially close to his sisters and their families, known as the "favorite Uncle." He had a great sense of humor and way of making people around him laugh. He will be sadly missed by all his family and numerous friends. John is survived by his wife, Sonja (Koren) White, whom he married August 6, 1977; his two sons, Adam (Melissa) White of Mt. Vernon, MO, and Eric White of New Castle, PA; his two grandsons, Michael and Maurice White of Mt. Vernon, MO; his mother, Shirley White of Mentor,OH; his four sisters, Darlene (Nick) Ciani of Mentor, OH, Shirley (Wayne) Gordon of Concord, OH, Theresa (Tim) Whinnery of Smyrna, TN, and Betty (Dave) Schaefer of Medina, OH; and nieces and nephews, Kevin, Leah, Nicholas Jr., Kimberlee, Angela, Hunter, Matthew, Sean (Brandy), Timothy, Destiny, David Jr., and Valarie. He is preceded in death by his father; and one sister, Christine English. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 18, 2012 at 5:00 PM at the Rock of Grace Church, 6745 St. Rt. 5, Kinsman, Ohio 44428 with Pastor Mark Biel officiating. Calling hours will be from 3:30 PM until the time of service at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rock of Grace Church or the MVI Hospice, 4891 Belmont Ave., Youngstown, OH 44505.
