Andover, Ohio - John Yendriga, age 84, died at his home with his family by his side, on Friday, August 21, 2009. He was born on July 29, 1925, in Pierpont, Ohio, the son of Josephine (Uchwal) and Joseph Yendriga. Mr. Yendriga served in the United States Army during World War II as a Military Policeman in Central France, earning two bronze stars. He was a self-employed carpenter and farmer. On May 10, 1968 he married Marie Jackson-Ellis. Mr. Yendriga was a member of Andover's V.F.W. post 9519 and Kinsman's American Legion. He loved farming and raised beef cattle and later grained farmed. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, cooking and bowling and bowled a 300 game. Mr. Yendriga is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of twenty-five years Marie Yendriga, who died in October of 1993; three sisters, Annie Roberts, Mary Orzak and Rose at age two; four brothers, Joe, Stan, Bill and Steve Yendriga. Survivors include his grandson and caregiver, Donald R. (Donna) Lawrason of Saegertown, Pennsylvania; a stepson, Stephen Ellis of Port St. Lucie, Florida; a stepdaughter, Aline (Donald) Lawrason of Linesville, Pennsylvania; a brother, Frank Yendriga of West Borough, Massachusetts; a sister, Jennie Thorkilsen of Zion, Illinois; three granddaughters, Darlene (Robert) Johnston, Stephanie (Rodd) Pasold both of Meadville, Pennsylvania, and Lisha (Peter) Cobb of Marysville, Tennessee; two grandsons, David (Brenda) Lawrason of Meadville, Pennsylvania and Timothy (Skipper) Ellis of Port St. Lucie, Florida; ten great grandchildren and five great great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.
