Jon P. "Jack" Welch

Gustavus, Ohio - Jon P. "Jack" Welch, age 69, died on Saturday, May 17, 2008, at Meadville Medical Center. He was born on March 29, 1939, in Warren, Ohio the son of Nelson F. and Elouise A. (Shumaker) Welch. Mr. Welch was a lifelong Gustavus resident, graduating from Gustavus in 1957. He owned and operated his own dairy farm, was a member of Dairy Farmers of America and Trumbull County Farm Bureau. Mr. Welch was a member of the Gustavus Federated Church and enjoyed hunting. On March 7, 1964 he married Linda L. Platt. He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Nelson A. Welch and a sister, Geraldine Chapel. Survivors include his wife of forty four years, Linda L. Welch of Gustavus, Ohio; four daughters, Shelley J. (Edward) Baumgardner of Gustavus, Ohio, Betsy L. (Michael) Friend of Columbiana, Ohio, Carrie L. (Denny) Page of Kingsville, Ohio, and Jodi A. (Daniel) Osoro of Canal Fulton, Ohio; two sons, Nelson A. (Gretchen) Welch of Gustavus, Ohio and John J. Welch of Williamsfield, Ohio; twelve grandchildren and two great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at Gustavus Federated Church, Route 193, Gustavus, Ohio, with Rev. James Stewart officiating. Burial of cremated remains will be in Gustavus Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the church at P.O. Box 5, Kinsman, Ohio 44428. Baumgardner Funeral Home, Kinsman, Ohio handled the arrangements.
