JOSEPH M. BALSEGA, age 62, of Vernon, Ohio, died Tuesday, December 4, 2007, at his home. He was born June 7, 1945, in Greene County, Pennsylvania, the son of the late Joseph S. and Lena (Chessla) Balsega. Formerly of Warren, Ohio, Joe had lived in Vernon since 1990. He was employed by Packard Electric for thirty years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Kinsman, where he served as a Eucharistic minister, lecturn, and served on parish council. Joe was a member of Electrical Workers I.U.E., the Musicians Union, and the Knights of Columbus. He played keyboard for 26 years in two different bands. He also enjoyed antiques, motorcycles, old cars, tractors, and traveling. Joe is survived by his wife, Alberta J. (DeSicy) Balsega, whom he married April 24, 1965, of Vernon township, OH; his three children, Tenine M. Kozak of Vernon, Dion J. Balsega of Vernon, and Dena M. Kusnir of Mecca, OH; three brothers, Thomas Balsega of Point Marion, PA, David Balsega of Smithville, PA, and Stephen Balsega of New Geneva, PA; and five grandchildren, Christina, John, Brittany, Rachael, and Brandon. He is preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, William and Bruce Balsega. A memorial mass will be held on Friday, December 7, 2007, at 2:00 P.M. at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, St. Rt. 87, Kinsman,OH, with Rev. Kevin McCaffrey officiating. There will be no calling hours.
